We offer some of the latest renewable technologies, this includes EV charging, solar battery storage units, electric heating systems and LED lighting install and upgrades. We currently have one fully electric van and we plan to switch our entire fleet to electric by 2023.

What are the benefits of outdoor security lights?

When does my home require rewiring?
Ideally, homes should be rewired every 25 years. Especially if a property is over 30 years old, it is likely that parts such as the fuse box will need updating.
Would you recommend having an electrician install data and network cabling in my home?
It is always advisable to have an experienced, fully qualified electrician install data and network cabling in order to ensure it is working satisfactorily and to minimise the likelihood of problems in the future.

Is it necessary to have to have a wired smoke alarm at home?
If your house was built after 1992, a hardwired smoke alarm is required in each room.
How do I stop my smoke alarm from beeping?
Take down the device, remove batteries and replace them. If this doesn’t work, give us a call and we will do our best to help.
Will switching to LED lighting save money on my electricity bills?
LED lighting is better for the environment, energy efficient and therefore less costly than standard light bulbs. It is definitely worth upgrading to LED lighting.
What qualifications does an electrician need to carry out an electrical inspection?
The qualifications required to carry out an electrical inspection include: completion of a full apprenticeship, possession of a current C&G 2382-18 BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition qualification, and several years worth of experience.
Why do I need an electrician to install garden lighting?
It is a legal requirement that a qualified electrician carries out residential electric work, including connecting the electrical system of a garden office to the main power supply of the house. Qualified electricians will ensure that it complies with Part P of the Building regulations.
How often does a home require rewiring?
This depends on the installation and testing. The only real way of identifying if a property requires a rewire is to carry out a full EICR (electrical installation condition report), a service that we offer here at Lyes Electrical.
